MAArvelous Millinery – Spring Racing

By Christina Karras

Can you believe it is almost spring? And with spring comes MSFW, and as we all know, ‘the race that stops the nation’, the annual Melbourne Cup! A distinct feature of spring racing fashion includes the numerous incredible and incredulous hats, and the Millinery Association of Australia (MAA) is kicking off the hat chat with MAArvelous Millinery 2015, on Thursday September 17th, at the Arts Centre Melbourne.

The MAA is a not-for-profit organisation that was founded in 1994, made up of over 140 members, including suppliers and milliners themselves, solely devoted to creating awareness and recognition of milliners’ work and encouraging people to include hats as a part of their style.

The night will give designers from all over the country a chance to unveil their spring collections in a private parade. In addition, all in attendance will be able to enjoy some canapés and champagne. “MAArvelous Millinery is a fantastic environment for our members to showcase their latest ranges of hats, fascinators and headpieces. Milliners and guests can mingle over a glass of bubbles and celebrate the spring designs,” said MAA President, Phillip Rhodes.

Guests will also be privy to various individual pop-up stores belonging to MAA members, giving them the opportunity to buy, browse or even request beautiful custom creations to be made, perfect for those looking to own those one of a kinds. There will also be door prizes throughout the evening which will allow patrons to trial out their new spring fashion outfits, even for a chance to win a $350 millinery voucher.

MAArvelous Millinery will take place at ANZ Pavilion, Arts Centre Melbourne from 7pm onwards. Tickets cost $70 per person and can be purchased here. The countdown to spring racing begins!
