Ilana is a beautiful performer, stepping onto the stage of The Butterfly Club in a classy black dress, accompanied by shoes with pictures of cats on them. Starting off a bit nervous, Ilana soon found her ease on stage as she proceeded to sing us through stories of her life- love and loss. This performance was part of the Melbourne Cabaret Fringe Festival- which which runs until the 26th of June.
Ilana has an endearing personality that made the audience laugh and cry. The show was more of a showcase of Ilana’s talent, and the songs that she had accumulated in her songwriters belt over the years. The banter between her and the keys player was also lovely to watch and listen to.
Ilana’s voice is truthful, and her songs are heartfelt. She is definitely different to other cabaret singers that I have seen- she does not seam to play the cabaret character, she just is, as she is, and every movement she makes is natural. Follow her Facebook to keep updated with performances.
