The 100 Burgers Group (Welcome to Thornbury, Belles Hot Chicken, Mr Burger) is excited to unveil the newly reimagined Prince Alfred Hotel on Grattan Street, Carlton, on Thursday 15th February.

The 100 Burgers Group, along with the Prince Alfred Collective, took over the 450-person space last year with grand plans for the iconic venue which has served as a ‘watering hole’ for Melbourne University students since everyone can remember. A new rooftop bar and terrace will be unveiled this week, bringing Melbourne’s obsession with rooftop drinking to Carlton.

From the outside, the 1920s exterior has not changed, however the team has worked closely with Hot Black Architects to create a rich and flamboyant interior with a deep blue palate, botanical elements and copper detailing.

The venue features a pub kitchen with a refined interpretation of all the favourite pub classics. Some highlights from Head Chef Mostafa Morshed’s menu include the starter snap-fried cauliflower, green onion, chilli and tamarind sauce and the main Za’atar crusted tuna, house pickled vegetables, green beans and a 63-degree egg. $15 parma’s will be served on Tuesdays and $15 steaks on Thursdays. Bottomless pancakes and mimosas will launch in March and run every Sunday as well.

A rotating kitchen allowing for a fresh menu every month is also in the works. Expect to see some fantastic collaborations between top Melbourne chefs and a selection of 100 Burgers Group venues.

With students always in mind, a café will also operate from 7am for all those pre-lecture coffees.
