NEW PIZZERIA – Coburg Melbourne
Want a pizza that is un-pho-gettable? Or hankering to bring some burger to your pizza toppings? With wacky names and unique ingredients to match, the new Stretched Pizza in Coburg is delivering an entirely new experience to pizza lovers.
Stretched Pizza is the new culinary venture from husband and wife duo chef Dario D’Agostino and Ly Nguyen, along with ex-banker turned pizza-maker Joe Codespoti. It introduces unusual menu items sure to pique an adventurous foodie’s interest, such as the style which pays homage to Ly’s cultural background: the Un-Pho-Gettable, featuring sirloin steak, Sriracha sauce, hoisin and Vietnamese basil. For those who are a bit rough around the edges, the Hangover boasts lean ground beef, bacon, gherkins, American cheddar and ketchup and mustard sauce.

The new Coburg venue takes its name from its technique – hand-stretching (as opposed to rolling with a pin) is a traditional method in which the dough stretches naturally, resulting in a more even crust that’s less likely to tear and a delicious, fluffy base.
Stretched Pizza caters to food lovers of every kind, with gluten free and five vegan options available. Unlike other pizza places, Stretched Pizza does not charge extra for gluten free bases, and there are seven vegetarian options on the menu, five of which can be made with vegan mozzarella – a massive hit with Melbourne’s plentiful ethically conscious consumers. The Trik o Treat offers a vegan delight of pumpkin, caramelized onion, almond fetta, pesto and pumpkin seeds.

Stretched also has a take-away alcohol license, with offers such as the Netflix & Chill deal which dishes up two pizzas and a bottle of wine or a six pack of craft beer. Customers can also order single bottles of beer, with Hawkers and O’Brien (gluten free) on the menu.
Located in Coburg, Stretched is the brainchild of Dario D’Agostino, Ly Nguyen and Joe Codespoti, also behind St Kilda’s iconic Pizza e Birra and the booming Port Melbourne and Brunswick brunch spots Long Story Short, which have enjoyed great success thanks to creative menu items such as the fairy floss burger and activated charcoal fish and chips. Mirroring that same creativity, Stretched Pizza combines traditional pizza making with unique toppings for Melbourne’s food-savvy take away market.
Stretched Pizza’s innovative take on traditional pizza is sure to make it a must-try destination on everyone’s list.
