St Kilda’s contemporary Indian restaurant Babu Ji will now be opening for dinner on Tuesdays, starting from 19 June. Tuesdays at Babu Ji will be an all vegan and gluten free extravaganza, with an all you can eat menu of vegan curries, cumin infused aged Basmati rice, and a papadum for $25. Gluten free and dairy free naan is also available at an extra cost.
The first vegan night on 19 June will help raise money for the Sacred Heart Mission, with all proceeds made on the night going to the charity.
Vegan and gluten free delights at Babu Ji will change weekly and will include the likes of Dal Makhani: black lentils, ginger, garlic and garaam masala, cooked for 12 hours and the Aloo Baingan: eggplant and potato curry with roasted pine nuts and raisins.
While meat-free Mondays have recently become popular in Australia, meat-free Tuesdays have been a tradition in India for hundreds of years, which Babu Ji is excited to observe.
Babu Ji’s simple but sophisticated setting is the perfect place to share a vegan feast of classic and not so classic curries. The venue also has a long-standing connection with Sacred Heart Mission, regularly taking part in the annual Dine with Heart program. Babu Ji will be highlighting its ongoing support for the charity with its first vegan Tuesday.
