SUDOKU

KIDS
Sudoku is a fun activity for people of all ages. This game
was originally designed by Howard Garns. The Sudoku
game is played on a 9x9 grid which is subdivided into
nine 3x3 mini-grids. I n order to reduce its complexity for
young children, the game in this book is simplified into a
4x4 grid and it is further divided into four 2x2 mini-grids.
Besides this, pictures are used to replace numbers, which
means it will be more fun for them to learn.
The puzzle is set with a partially-filled grid as shown in
the top picture on the left page (Figure I). The aim of
the activity is to enter the four different pictures into the
remaining grid cells so that each picture appears in each
mini-grid, column and row (Figure 2, 3 and 4). In this
workbook, children will be taught, step by step, how to
fill the empty pictures to solve the Sudoku puzzle.

Mostly cows just stand around
on flowery meads and hillocks.
All they do is moo and chew
and turn grass into millock

Crocodiles are mostly teeth,
With eyes on top and grins beneath.
They lurk about in murky water,
Eating things they didn't oughta.
They fix you with a beady stare,
Pretending that they isn't there,
Then grab you with a sudden chop.
(Except the ones that skip and hop,
And sit around all day on logs.
But, mostly, they is really frogs.)

Two beetles disagreed one day
and thought they'd have a battle,
But the smaller one was rather scared.
In fact, distinctly rattled.
The choice was fight or flight
and so, despite all the upheavals,
He chose to cut and run …
It was the lesser of two weevils.

One day, Mummy and Daddy decided to take the family to
the park to play with the kangaroos and birds. Alice sat in
the car. Rose sat in the car. Mummy sat in the car. Daddy
sat in the car. But one seat was empty.

When they arrived at the park, they saw lots of kangaroos
and birds. The birds were red and blue. Daddy said they
were rosellas. A lady was feeding a kangaroo. Alice patted
the kangaroo. Rose patted the kangaroo. But someone was
missing.
