nce upon a time there was a grandmother, called Mocco who loved
cats. One day, a small grey kitten came to live with her. She called it
MISS APPLEBEE. As grandma Mocco was a writer, she invented stories of
the adventures of MISS APPLEBEE for her grandchildren.
MISS APPLEBEE grew up and is now 2 years old. She is a British Shorthair
and a most loving cat but she also rules the house. Atnight she sleeps on the
foot end of grandma Moccos bed and she loves treats. If grandma Mocco
would not know for sure that MISS APPLEBEE is a cat, she would think that
she was a human.
Mocco Wollert is a poet with 7 published books to her name. Her 8 MISS
APPLEBEE stories are her rst step into writing childrens stories. She lives
with her husband and MISS APPLEBEE in Brisbane, Australia.
MOCCO WOLLERT is currently looking for a
publisher with distribution Australia wide for her
8 Miss Applebee adorable stories. She would like
to see thousands of grandmothers who do not have
computers reading Miss Applebee stories to their
grandchildren. Mocco has also tested the Miss
Applebee stories in Prep Schools, Kindergartens,
grade 1 and 2 with great success. They would make
great ‘First Readers’ in schools. Children are a very
critical audience and they judge honestly without
holding back; Miss Applebee passed the grade, the
children liked the simple rhymes either to read or to
sing. As there are 8 stories they would make a great
‘boxed set’, particularly in hardcover. Please feel
free to drop her an email at mocco.wollert@
bigpond.com if you are interested in publishing Miss
Applebee stories.

Chef Kelly began to crack the eggs, a dreamy
smile on his face. He was head chef of a large
kitchen in a major Sydney hotel.
The restaurant was crowded and a-buzz
with the rumour that the television star
Linda La Flinte was to dine there that night.
In fact, there was going to be a whole team of
television people there. Ray Martin, Catriona
Rowntree, Tom Williams, Sam Neill, Jennifer
Hawkins, the My Kitchen Rules Team, and
even a rumour that Rod Stewart, who was
in Sydney, that night, might make a booking.
Kelly’s bacon and eggs were the talk of the
industry and his appearances on the
Footy
Show
, cooking bacon and eggs for Fatty,

Chief, Sterlo and ‘Big Maaan’, cemented his
popularity as a celebrity chef.
Chef Kelly was supervising the kitchen,
ensuring the staff members were on their
toes and knew their respective jobs.
The kitchen door flew open. Marcel the
head waiter came in wringing his hands an
agonised look on his face.
“Oh, m’sieu, Chef Kellee, ‘elp me. Ze television
lady, ze Mademoiselle Linda La Flinte, she is
‘ere an’ wants ‘er eggs, ‘ow you say, fried,
sunnee side up an’ ze bacon creesp. She

“Marcel, old mate, if the PM’s chef, rings me
for the recipe, ya know, something’s right.
She’ll taste my bacon and eggs a’la Stollery
and think she’s in heaven. As for not having
enough, don’t you worry. My goods friends
Tony Flinte and Boxy Avery are bringing in
supplies now. Marcel. You can’t be a great
chef, if you don’t plan. Okay team let’s get
to it.”
Chef Kelly grabbed a large frying pan poured
in some oil and placed the pan over the flame.
He waited a few seconds and cracked the
eggs into the pan.

Gordon Ramsay has invented a new word to

“Marcel, Miss Linda is in for a real treat.”

“When cooking the eggs, always ensure the
oil is hot and wait until the white of the egg
is white and fluffy. A warm plate please,
Marcel my main man.”
Kelly quickly decorated the plate and gently
placed the bacon and eggs onto it, garnished
the plate with a sprig of parsley and passed
it to Marcel.
“Right Marcel, old son, she’s all yours.” Marcel
waltzed off into the dining room.
The applause from the dining area was
deafening. Marcel raced into the kitchen.

Chef Kelly adjusted his hat and walked into

extended her hand. “Chef Kelly, you may
touch my hand - they were the best bacon

tell Kylie and Delta about your wonderful

cornflower blue eyes sparkled. The crowd

“Stollery Don’t dream, we don’t want burnt
offerings on the breakfast - pay attention
and take it easy son,” says Dad, bringing me
right back to 24 Chifley Street.
So, in keeping with the Great Kelly, I paid real
attention to the bacon and eggs. You know,
when I get out of school, I might take on doing
a bit of the old chef work.
But right now, it’s making sure that Mum
and Dad’s bacon and eggs are real good.
Annabelle reckons she’s on a diet and will
have a small cereal and yoghurt. I don’t know
why, Annabelle is no way fat. Mum and Dad
love the bacon and eggs though and, good
old mum helps me with the toast.

Annabelle says I put too much butter on
the toast and I leave toast crumbs in the

me and Tony an’ Boxy go camping, they don’t

to leave for church when the phone rings.
Mum answers the call and tells me, “It’s
Tony Flinte wanting to know if he and Kevin
Billson - Blinky, can come over and watch
last night’s game on video with you.”
“Yeah Mum - he’s cool.” I say, real excited.
Tony Flinte is my best mate, along with

We reckon we’re like the rangers. We all stick
together, play footie, cricket, swim and go
camping. Kev, we call him Blinky, on account
of his name being Billson, after the TV show
we watched as little kids,
Blinky Bill
, the
famous koala.
Boxy, whose dad is the head teacher at
School, loves making boxes. He makes them
for his dad, for Miss Last to put her papers in
and he even made one for the class to keep
our pet guinea pigs.
We reckon that before we get real jobs, we’re
going to Queensland to become drovers,
that’s like being an Australian cowboy. Blinky
and Boxy could drove the cattle, and me. I’d
be the cook. I don’t know if I’ll have time to
be a chef though, what with me wanting to
