Bio

I have come to poetry rather late in life as I have started my seventh decade. However, I have been depicting images as an amateur painter for almost 20 years since moving from United Kingdom to New Zealand with my husband. We have four married children – two in each country, and four grand-children. Before emigrating we lived in several villages in UK and also travelled frequently to Europe, particularly France.At school, many moons ago now, I loved our lessons in English and English Literature and have remained a great reader throughout my life. In my thirties I trained as a registered nurse and followed that profession for almost twenty years before moving to New Zealand. During that time I wrote and co-wrote several papers which were accepted by nursing and medical journals, and contributed several chapters to a nursing/medical textbook.Since taking early retiring I have had some success with awards for, and sales of, my art work and continue to paint the occasional piece. Other interests include lawn bowls, writing my (several) blogs, family and friends, and in trying my hand at writing poetry. The latter I find incredibly enjoyable and, like most enjoyable things, only regret that I did not start sooner!
