At the age of only twenty-four years old, French Canadian writer, director and actor Xavier Dolan has already
impressed audiences all over the world with three breathtaking and intimate flms that explore relationships,
sexuality and love. Starting at just twenty-one with his debut feature J’ai tue ma mere (I Killed My Mother,
2009) Dolan has made a flm almost every year since. The young Quebec native continually shines and shows
of his creative talent, being a triple threat auteur and even privately funding one of his flms.
Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec in 1989, Dolan started his career in flm as a child actor both in movies
and television. At an early age, exposure to cinema and the creative industry paved the way for his future
profession as a flmmaker. Not shy to be in front of the camera, Dolan has starred in two of his own flms
and made a cameo in his most recent creation Laurence Anyways (2012). All of Dolan’s flms are based in
Montreal and Quebec. His stories explore both the city and the complex relationships of those who inhabit

J’ai tue ma mere (I Killed My Mother, 2009) – Dolan’s debut feature that started the buzz won three awards at
the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. The flm follows the relationship between a young homosexual man, Hubert
