The St Kilda Film Festival Closing Night - Part 1
The voice work of Bob Knowles and Matilda Hardwick are fne, not sounding like they are reading words
of a page. The disappointing thing about this piece is the rushed conclusion. It spend too much of its
running time on build up, resulting in the payof not measuring up to the expectation it built. The fnal
climax hits the ground with a thud rather than a bang (as was probably the intention). Nevertheless, the
road to that climax is well-directed, appropriately adult, cynical and darkly comical at times, which will be
a joy for fans of animation and noir. If that not your thing, Second Chance won’t win any new converts.
