MSFW Runway Beauty Wrap Up

By Chantelle White

Defined cheekbones and brows paired with bright coloured lips are this season’s beauty staples, as showcased this year on the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week runways.

This season’s hottest beauty trends have taken hues from Kimmy K’s structured contouring and bronzed palette, emphasizing deep set eyes with shimmery browns, greys, blacks and red-toned colours like mahogany.

Eyeshadow will not be a skipped behaviour in spring this year, as the makeup basic is calling back some credit for a facial focus after years of idolizing the ‘natural look’.

But don’t be fooled, other facial features are also having a serious moment in the warmer months; with depth and definition through contouring high cheekbones and brow bones a major trend spotted on the runway.

More bronzed and golden luminous notes are making their way onto the faces of fashion’s finest this year and the overall look is breathtaking.

As a natural and bronzed palette is used for the rest of the face, now is the time to get excited with bright lip colours.

Make way for orange corals and raspberry pinks to complement the sorbet tones we are seeing in this year’s spring fashions.

Pastels and feminine cuts are taking up a big proportion of spring fashion and so are monochromatic geometrics and floral patterns. So bright feminine lip colours are just the pop of colour needed to tie these looks together.

As for hair, it looks like ladies will be reaching for the scissors as short cuts make their way back onto the scene.

But don’t worry, for those of us who aren’t game enough to cut it all off, the low pony is our go-to. As long as it is slick and secured with a hint of a fishtail plait, we will make just as much of a fashion statement.

Texture is also your friend this season. Tight finger waves are the biggest trend seen on the runways, and the mousses and gels you haven’t used since the 90’s are the tools you need to achieve this look.

It’s exciting that this year we can experiment with some new beauty trends and revert back to some old 90’s favorites (think lip liner before lipstick). Enjoy what spring has to offer and find some inspiration in these words to keep up to date with the most fashionable beauty trends. I look forward to seeing you on the streets!
