Melbourne’s first Fratelli Fresh and The Cut Steakhouse debut at The Alfred

Ever wondered what gastronomic heaven is like? Diners will find out when Melbourne’s first Fratelli Fresh restaurant and The Cut Steakhouse open on Friday, 15 July over two spectacular heritage-featured floors at The Alfred.

From the alfresco laneway dining façade at 7 Alfred Place, a grand foyer, spectacular dry aging room and ground floor Fratelli Fresh, to the dramatic staircase that leads guests to The Cut’s classic New York steakhouse inspired space and adjoining bar, the two-storey heritage building is as rich in culinary credentials as it is in stylish spaces for public dining or private hire.

Diners can enjoy the casual charm and good value for which Fratelli is famed from a light-filled, laid-back dining room with signature red and white décor. The menu boasts over 25 dishes for under $20 and a six-course menu for $55.

Be A Souperhero Challenge changes lives one bowl of soup at a time

The Salvation Army is calling upon compassionate Victorians to Be A Souperhero this July and take on the challenge of replacing every meal with soup (from Monday 25 July to Sunday 31 July) to raise much needed funds for Aussies in need.

Be A Souperhero will strive to raise $100,000 to help struggling Aussie families living on less than $17.00 per day.* Souperheroes will seek the support of family and friends to donate to their challenge and all funds raised will go directly to Salvos community service programs.

Australia’s much loved Television Chef, and acclaimed Food Author, Fast Ed (Ed Halmagyi) will take part in this year’s challenge and will be whipping up special soup recipes that are suitable for all mealtimes – even breakfast!

“Soup is the unsung hero for families who are just trying to make ends meet. It’s a cheap, nutritious meal, and one batch of soup can feed a family for a few days. I’m really excited to be involved in Be A Souperhero and help those who have fallen on hard times.
