Alice in Never Neverland

“Where the world’s of Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan collide!”

This summer, a new ship sails into the fleet of celebrated family shows from the acclaimed outdoor theatre producers behind The Wind in the Willows and Caribbean Pirates at the Polly Woodside.

Alice in Never Neverland (6-24 January 2015) is new production written and directed by 2014 Melbourne Award Winner Glenn Elston and produced by the Australian Shakespeare Company, Australia’s largest independent theatre company.

Taking the best-loved bits of Glenn Elston’s critically acclaimed production of Alice in Wonderland (2009-2014) into the fantastical world of Peter Pan, Captain Hook and the Lost Boys, Alice in Never Neverland takes audiences on a journey through the magical garden surrounds of Rippon Lea House and Gardens.

A musical reimagining of J M Barrie’s well-loved Peter Pan together with Lewis Carol’s Alice’s Wonderland, this garden wonder-show will reveal surprises behind every bush and tree as it explores: what happens when Alice tumbles through another rabbit hole and meets the boy who never grew up?

“There is something magical and intriguing about the richly imaginative worlds of Wonderland and Never Neverland. I’m sure it’s this almost intangible quality that sees these stories so consistently recreated on stage and screen to this day,” says director and writer Glenn Elston.

The adventurous idea of bringing these two classics together is something only Glenn Elston could dream up. The originator of interactive outdoor theatre in Australia, Elston has written and produced the country’s longest running outdoor family theatre production The Wind in the Willows – 28 years young this summer.

“We have such a wonderful array of charming and curious characters to work with…there are too many opportunities for madcap fun! We are all a bit too excited to share this show with our audiences this summer.”

A new interactive adventure where Tinker Bell tinkers with the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts squares up to Captain Hook and Peter Pan soars with Alice, Alice in Never Neverland will see audiences voyage through increasingly hilarious escapades with singing and dancing from start to finish.

The new production will star energetic musical theatre graduates Madeleine Somers as Alice and Ryan Ireland as Peter Pan.

Glenn Elston and the Australian Shakespeare Company have been creating fun-filled summer memories for generations of Australian families. Alice In Never Neverland is another inventive and interactive production to entertain all ages.
