One of the Best ‘People Watching’ Spots in the City

PURE SOUTH DINING – BAR + KITCHEN opens downstairs

Pure South Dining has been a fine dining institution for 13 years. Following their recent renovation and expansion over two levels, the river level of the restaurant has now been reimagined as P.S. Bar + Kitchen.

In what may be the best people-watching spot in the city, P.S. Bar + Kitchen is situated on the river level opposite the Southgate foot bridge overlooking the Yarra River, Melbourne city and promenade. The all-day-eatery is the more casual version of its fine dining sister upstairs. P.S. Bar + Kitchen is the answer to unplanned eating and drinking at anytime, whilst still showcasing the same Tasmanian produce that Pure South Dining is renowned for. The menu ranges from breakfast and lunch to afternoon snacks and dinner.

Pure South’s Phillip Kennedy says of the space, “Tens of thousands plod by the huge open window-walls through the week, but the weekend vibe kicks it up a gear. We are loving the changing moods of the space throughout the day.”

Pure South Dining continues to foster direct relationships with artisan farmers, fishermen and producers on King Island, Flinders Island and Tasmania. The team travels south regularly to find the best produce and to build the relationships and what better way to do that then to have their boots on the ground.

Executive Chef David Hall headed up a Michelin Star kitchen in the UK and continues to weave his culinary magic with premium produce at Pure South Dining and now P.S. Kitchen + Bar. Pure South Dining has been a ‘hatted’ restaurant in the last three Good Food Guides and for most of the last 13 years.
