The newly opened Prince Alfred Hotel on Grattan Street, Carlton, is excited to reveal its new rooftop bar. The iconic pub opposite the University of Melbourne reopened its doors last month after being taken over by 100 Burgers Group (Welcome to Thornbury, Mr Burger, Belle’s Hot Chicken) in 2017.
The new rooftop bar has a capacity of 300 people, opening up the entire 450-person space to a whole lot more fun. Open all day, the rooftop is a great spot for an after-class beverage or extended lunch break. Special events take place during the week, including a Bottomless Pancakes Party, which recently launched. The rooftop is also available to hire for private parties. 100 Burgers Founder Daragh Kan said “We’re already really happy with how people are embracing Prince Alfred so it’s exciting to reveal the final piece of the venue.”
Designed by Hot Black Architects, the Prince Alfred rooftop emphasises the rich textures and colours on the first floor. Hot Black Architects Design Director Sophie Safrin said: “Use of bespoke joinery allowed us to create something unique, which is reflective of the space itself. The material palette alongside the colour palette is aimed to strengthen as you travel throughout the space to the upper floors becoming more vibrant and textured.”
Prince Alfred Hotel’s Bottomless Pancake Party will run every Saturday from Saturday April 7. Running from 11:30am, guests can head up to the rooftop to enjoy unlimited stacks of traditional pancakes with a range of toppings for $25 per person. For those interested in turning their Brunch into a Sunday session – bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Mary’s and pints of Hoegaarden are also on the menu for $65 per person, best enjoyed in a group until 2:30pm.
