Australia’s best known Bavarian restaurants spice up National Chicken Wing Day Australia’s favourite Bavarian restaurants are turning up the heat for National Chicken Wing Day, with a line-up of spicy challenges, red-hot prizes and 10-cent wings all day long. This National Chicken Wing Day on Sunday, 29 July, Munich Brauhaus, The Bavarian and The Bavarian Beerhaüs will host a fiery ghost pepper wing challenge, in celebration of these meaty little morsels. Ghost pepper wings are smothered in a special haus-made sauce comprising of three different kinds of pepper: cayenne, habanero and the hottest of them all, ghost pepper. Competing for a $200 restaurant voucher, contestants will eat one dangerously hot ghost pepper wing a minute, with the last person left standing crowned the Ghost Pepper Challenge champion. The challenge costs $20 to enter and kicks off at 3pm at all Bavarian locations. Spectators can feast on a bountiful supply of chicken wings for just 10-cents each, while guests keen to taste a ghost pepper wing can try their hand at Wing Roulette ($20), which includes a basket of five saucy diablo wings with a surprise ghost pepper wing in the mix. Diners can cool off with some fabulous brews on tap, including imported favourites Löwenbräu, Franziskaner, Stiegl and Hofbräu, as well as a large range of craft beers, all of which can be enjoyed from one of the Bavarian restaurants’ renowned 1-litre glass steins.
